Support (42%) – "We can't allow Iran to have nuclear bombs. They're one of the largest terrorist countries in the world. The way was struck was fast, efficient, and did not kill civilians. I'm not concerned with not having congressional approval as other presidents have set that precedent, and telling congress would have damaged the mission."
"I 100% support this move. Iran didn't just get on the US radar as a nuclear threat; this has been talked about for years by many previous administrations as a big problem. I also think this is a bipartisan issue - it doesn't matter who the president is, a terrorist country supporting a terrorist group with access to nuclear weapons is not good for any other country globally. I'm glad Trump made this decision and I hope any other president would have as well due to the immense threat that it poses to all of humanity if something like that were to play out."
"You're kidding right? The reasons for this should be obvious. This little loudmouth terrorist nation finally got the spanking it needed from the only adult in the room. Obama, Biden, Harris... none of them had the balls to do what had to be done. So now it's done and the bully on the block isn't so big any more. And if they get too feisty again, Trump will let them know he and the US military mean business again. Hopefully such a reminder isn't needed. I doubt Iran wants a war with us. They've seen already how easily we defeated Iraq. But we of course would like to avoid another Mideast ground war. The point is, we just removed a lot of the bluster from the bully. And no one is happier about it than the people of Israel."
Oppose (49%) – "In general, I am opposed to attacking any other nation preemptively, but especially on the word of Israel's govt, which has drawn the US into two other wars in the Middle East on what turned out to be false pretenses. In this case specifically, I think the President should have sought the clearance of Congress."
"There are ao many things wrong with this. First Trump pulls out from the agreement with Iran. Then he enters into negotiations and while these are still.goung on. He orders the bombing. Members of his own administration said Iran does not have nuclear bomb capability, his excuse for the bombing. Trump did not notify all the members of Congress, as prescribed, leaving out Democratic members. For someone who vowed to get the US out of all war and end other conflicts in his first week, he is not following through...again."
"The international community, including the US, had a treaty with Iran (The Iran Nuclear deal) regarding its nuclear programs. President Donald Trump withdrew from the agreement in 2018. He broke his 2016 campaign promise to renegotiate the agreement. So, the US was obligated to a diplomatic solution that Trump did not put the time or effort into pursuing in good faith, opting instead for an action that is an act of war. The Israeli "tail" is clearly "wagging the dog" here. We should be leading with diplomacy but the current Trump administration has neither the desire nor the skill to do so."
Unsure/other (9%) – "Doing nothing is just as much a risk as anything else, so I think I lean towards supporting this. However there's obviously immense implications to this, and we can't tell the future. I also don't keep up enough with the Middle East to really know all the reasons for supporting versus opposing this action. However I'd rather choose to act than never act."
