In general, how do you feel about Trump’s new AI Action Plan?

Support (31%) – "The United States is losing the technology race badly to China and India. We have been far too comfortable letting this happen. While I don’t support everything Trump does, his new AI plan with a goal set for the US to lead the world in AI is encouraging, and overall a good thing for the USA, at least on the surface, in my opinion."

  • "AI, like the news, is best when free of propaganda and has emphasis on facts without bias. This plan should help make that happen. Hopefully, a classified AI system will also be developed to defeat adversaries like China, Russia, and Iran and keep freedom as an ideal in the world without bowing to communism/socialism."

"We are on the precipice of life changing money in the stock market due to AI. The US does need to be at the forefront, as it will provide wealth to the country and increase the GDP. We are already starting to see the economy boom under Trump. I say, let’s keep going."

Oppose (44%) – "Don't like getting rid of safety/security guards. Don't like making it easier to build AI centers without regulations especially against local pushback. AI centers use massive amounts of water which is not readily available in many areas. Has already caused water issues in some areas with the local populace."

  • "We already have a power grid issue, this is just going to exasperate the situation. And the administration already has proven themselves saying no censoring and bias with other things but have taken down articles, websites and scientific studies that don’t match with their ideologies."

"AI has the ability to be revolutionary like the internet was before it. Unlike the internet we still have a chance to regulate it to keep ourselves and the future safe. This plan will most certainly end in disaster. There have been so many people from the creation of AI to caution the path forward but it seems we will yet again fail to heed the warning."

  • "This approach to AI is incredibly reckless and foolish, damaging to the environment, wasteful of resources, and in support of an technology that doesn't even seem like it's solving a problem with the price tag associated with it."

Unsure/other (25%) – "I agree that the United States should remove barriers to the success of "our" tech companies regarding the development of robust AI tools. It's the Bias part that worries me. I don't trust our current government, for a minute, to not manipulate the meaning of bias to exclude, that which they do not approve."

  • "As a high school teacher, I would like to see a little more control over AI use in schools. There are so many unknowns and students are using it to think for them and losing their critical thinking skills and learning stamina. It is being abused by students. Encouraging use of AI may lead to too much reliance on technology. However, if people can use it properly, I think it can open the doors for a lot of innovation. Schools need more guidance on AI use, but things are moving so quickly that it is hard to keep up."
