What are your general thoughts on America’s trade situation following the Trump admin’s latest deadline?

"in a perfect word all trade would be free but tariffs ate used to protect companies in your country. Why is it OK for other countries to charge tariffs on goods we sell to them but when President Trump uses tariffs to protect US companies people are up in arms?"

• "When is this country going to wake up to this insanity and realize that tariffs are a tax on US consumers! My question to this administration is this,if you keep crowing about how much money tariffs are bringing in then why did the bill that was past need to include tax breaks and our national debt raised to almost 4 billion more? What’s really amazing is now you have senators floating the idea of $600 checks to all Americans for tariff relief while they tout tariffs are not a tax! Again this insanity has to stop!"

"Admittedly, I don't have the complete picture on the global trade/tariff situation, but it does seem like there have been some one-sided trade practices which have impacted American manufacturing and encouraged companies to move their manufacturing out of the US. On one hand, I hate that this will hurt businesses, especially small businesses, who rely on a global economy and the consumers of many of the goods flowing into the US, but on the other, I would like to see some more manufacturing within the United States and American companies being encouraged to bring their manufacturing back in the country.
