Yes (47%) – "As a Gen Z, I can say that religion has become very important to me. I've been meeting with the priest from my local church regularly. I attend church, and I'm thankful for the connection that the church community is giving me. My parents are not religious and don't seem to be very supportive of my interest. I do think a lot of my friends are becoming more interest in church also."
"As a Christian, my faith permeates all areas of my life. I begin my day with reading and studying my Bible, and I pray often throughout the day. I attend worship services three times a week and regularly participate in other Christian fellowship opportunities. My faith is the foundation of my life. I can't imagine a life with God at the center of it all."
"I have seen countless blessings in my life from centering my life on God. I think the easiest way to strengthen my relationship with Him is through daily practices like prayer, scripture study, and church attendance. Without organized religion, those important practices slip out of the forefront of my focus."
No (49%) – "I grew up in a church but stopped going as an adult. There is so much compelling information on the internet that disproves or challenges beliefs held by organized religions. Because organized religions continue to hold on to traditional beliefs, they feel irrelevant in this Information Age."
"Religion has not been a part of my life since I turned 18 due to the gender inequality, lack of reproductive options/support for women, and lack of support for LGBTQIA+ issues. Equality in healthcare and human services are huge for me, and I don't feel people need to fit into a certain category to deserve such care. In summary, I don't have a faith, but I believe in being a decent human being and helping others."
"Religion is manmade and used to used to many times to instill fear in people. I believe in something higher than myself, call it God, creator, universe whatever. I do not care for organized religion, be a good person and do good. Pretty simple, don't need a church for that."
Unsure/other (4%) – "Depends on how you define "religion." Organized religion, no. Spirituality with a greater presence beyond my physical body, sure, probably. Or maybe my religion is just trying to be the best version of myself I can be and making the lives around me better every day."
