After 2+ weeks of conflict: do you support or oppose US involvement in the ongoing war in the Middle East?

Support (23%) – "I support the destruction of the Iranian ability to make war and export terrorists and weapons. We actually need to do more rather than less as the fuel for this foul antisocial behavior is the Clerics and Guard forces there which need to be wiped out as much as the materials supporting their evil craft. They are professional criminals promoting themselves at the expense of their people and the world."

  • "We haven't yet achieved our objective, have we? The regime is still in place. All we have done is changed the Supreme Leader, gained air superiority, and got the Gulf mined (not unexpected). Now we need to see the Supreme Leader resign, the people take over and form a new government, and the Gulf be cleaned up. That's when we stop. Stop before then and all we have done is set things up for another conflict in 5 - 10 years. I'd rather we finish this now so we have peace in that region for a century."

Oppose (74%) – "Just like we had no business getting involved in Iraq 25 years ago, we have no business going into Iran today. Even if the current regime is oppressive to its people it should be the right and responsibility of the Iranian people to handle things how they see them fit and to determine their own destinies."

  • "The US does not have the moral or legal right to act as the world’s police when it fails to uphold humane human rights standards within its own borders (think: ICE detaining children). When a president is violating the constitution which he pledged to uphold, he loses all rights to claim to champion democracy."

"Before one undertakes an action, any action, especially military action, they need to have two concepts in place. The first being the primary reason for implementing said action. The second being the reasonable and inevitable end result. Trump has been shaky at best on the first, and quite obviously vacuous on the second. Now the surrounding Gulf states have been subjected to Iranian missile and drone strikes and are ruing their involvement. Perhaps it is time for a "reset", where ALL the surrounding Gulf states become involved in negotiations with Iran for a peaceful resolution. Now that they know that they will be involved one way or another, they should step up and take the lead. They have more to gain with the pursuit of peace, and more to lose in conflict. This will be difficult, I fear, as Bibi will be the wild card. He has a lot of demons he is running from, and distractions are to his advantage."

  • "This war is all about machismo and greed and nothing else. There is no strategy, no exit plan and no justification for going to war in the first place. Most importantly there is no concern for the countless human casualties nor the dire environmental impact. It is an absolute travesty!"

"This administration is using a made up conflict to distract from domestic issues, most notably the Epstein Files, although not solely limited to that. What's even more apparent is the lack of a strategy and a lack of what is the point....is it a campaign of punishment? A campaign to overthrow the theocracy that is in power? Are we back in the "nation building" business again? Further, the utter lack, even contempt for possible impacts, like the closure of the Straits of Hormuz show the bankruptcy of an administration, bereft of intelligence...."

  • "War sucks. We really do not need to join other things when we ourselves have enough issues. We are in too much debt for this."

"The war has already spiraled out of control in ways that were predicted by many. I have zero confidence in this administration’s ability to end this any time soon."

Unsure/other (3%) – "Regime change is necessary in Iran to deescalate decades of hardline stance that has destabilized the region. But change from within is preferable to interference from without because the seeds and infrastructure for change aren’t strong enough to nurture a radical departure for the existing administration. Just look at who they appointed as successor. While the US may negotiate better trade terms or get a worthless pledge to end nuclear ambitions, nothing materially changes for the Iranians or the region in the end. A change is needed and I’m not sure how it occurs."
