Do you plan to watch or attend the World Cup this year?

Yes (26%) – "I live in suburban Atlanta. It will cost me $5 for a round trip MARTA ride to the stadium. I was able to score respectable seats without paying through the nose. Bucket list item will be checked for the summer."

  • "Watch only, provided they’re not pay per view or on a platform I have to subscribe to. I’m a fan, but not that big of a fan. Keep things in perspective, I can watch my hometown MLS team, Orlando Lions, for $9 (no typo) on resell tickets all season long."

"We have tickets to both the LA game and the Seattle game are making a 10-day family vacation out of it. Prices for the tickets were horrible and hotel costs are unbelievable, especially in Seattle, but we are a huge soccer family and attending a World Cup has been on our bucket list. I have been saving for a long time for this otherwise, it wouldn’t be feasible."

No (70%) – "Soccer is not an American sport, If a world baseball tournament was made available to watch I would rather take my family to that event."

  • "Your article seemed to concentrate only on the cost but there are also other reasons people aren’t going. The US does not have a favorable reputation at the moment and tourists don’t want to have to deal with the potential of our “ice” problem."

"Not into soccer. And even if I was, I wouldn't pay the exorbitant ticket price and other expenses. I would watch from home instead."

  • "Soccer is boring. I can’t get exciting watching it. My grandkids play it and I enjoy watching them. But the score is never 1-0."

"I was not planning to watch either way, I am not much for watching sports. I think part of the reason that ticket sales are down is that the US spent the last year showing strong hostility towards non-US-citizens in a way that would discourage people from traveling here."

  • "I might watch a game or two depending on when the US team plays but I don't generally watch soccer."

"No. I do not care for soccer. But - even if I were a passionate fan - I would boycott the games due to the corrupt "FIFA Peace Prize" and the Trump family associations. From all indications, it will be a spectacular failure in terms of ticket sales. I feel very sorry for the innocent and talented athletes who are being used by a highly corrupt management team."

Unsure/other (4%) – "I live near a host city and am not interested in supporting FIFA after they gave a “peace prize” to Trump. I might watch some games at home, but will not be attending any matches."
