Keep the current system (17%) – "The system of savings and standard time exists for a reason. In my eyes, it doesn’t make sense scientifically to sacrifice people’s sleep rhythm and health during the winter, and savings time allows crucial area for children’s sports in the spring and fall. The system works far better than people give it credit for, simply because the changing between is frustrating and inconvenient."
Permanent DST (32%) – "I don’t mind a darker morning in winter. It already is and one hour doesn’t make it better. Leave it alone so it doesn’t disrupt sleep patterns"
"I agree with more light in the evening. Yes, that means darker mornings when kids are going to school, but that is already a reality in Northern states and people learn to manage that. As for a 9 am sunrise in some states, same thing, it's already happening and people figure it out. That argument sounds suspiciously like a politician just making noise. Circadian rhythm matches standard time - what does that argument even mean? Are we talking about "traditional" definitions of what time on your clock you should get up, report to work, etc? Sounds like personal time management for some people, not something that should control the whole country. Honestly, either time has good and bad sides. I don't care, Congess, just pick one and stop this ridiculous time switching nonsense!"
Permanent standard time (45%) – "There are already enough everyday occurrences that wreak havoc on the circadian rhythm (phone and electronics use, unnatural lighting, increased stress throughout the day). Returning to permanent standard time would reconnection with a primal function and would make morning wake ups much easier for most individuals."
"It’s so much easier to get up when it’s already daylight, and hard to get up in the dark. On the flip side, outside of summer, it’s unlikely I’m getting out of work much before dark either way. Let’s put the extra daylight hours where they’re actually useful, in the morning!"
"I live in Canada- BC recently went DST permanent, here in Ontario later sunrise in the winter months means darkness when children are walking to school, people less awake/aware when driving. With more careless drivers permanent DST is wrong. Many experts spoke out about BC's decision that it is the wrong direction for general health and safety. I understand the reasoning of late sunshine means more people go shopping and to restaurants but that does not mean better health."
Unsure/other (6%) – "I am not a fan of changing clocks every spring and fall, especially spring when I have to wake earlier. Why can't we move the clocks 30 minutes one way or the other? That way we get the benefit of more daylight in the evening without sending children out in the morning dark. I feel this is a legitimate compromise to changing to all Daylight or all Standard time."
