In your opinion, what should be the Federal Reserve’s next move after raising baseline US interest rates?

Raise rates again (40%) – "We need to stop inflation so people don't need loans for day to day life."

"As consumers, my wallet and I feel very much that inflation is rampant. The problem is that this isn't a normal economic situation; external pressures (I'm talking about the Iran war and tariffs on and from trading partners) are affecting inflation rates in ways that the Fed can only influence to a certain extent. But something is better than nothing; I'd rather have a slowed economy than have more and more of the middle class functionally be kicked a social strata lower."

  • "As someone who's retired and living on a fixed income, higher rates and lower inflation are far better for my pocketbook."

Keep rates steady (27%) – "One has to see if this rate increase has the effect of slowing down inflation."

  • "I believe that it would be prudent to keep the rates the same for the present. It would be easy to see inflation continuing to rise, primarily to the cost of diesel fuel. The vast majority of the supply chain is moved by diesel fuel, which is currently at an all time high price. This in turn will raise the transportation cost of consumer goods. The continuing cost of gasoline will also contribute to an increase of inflation. The "little excursion" in Iran has turned out to be the first of many dominoes."

Cut rates (17%) – "Those in the lower half of the k-shaped economy were already struggling and any rate increase is even more detrimental to them. Let’s face the facts, the government is causing much of the inflation, not the market. Stop the unnecessary wars and spending and things would start to come back in line with expectations."

  • "Low interest rates on mortgages seem to lift mood, spirit and optimism. "

Unsure/other (16%) – "They should advise the President and, perhaps, Congress later on, on what caused the 'raise', and things that would likely initiate a stable economy. I believe things that would help long term would be reducing the debt (which Congress won't do as they depend on it to 'buy' votes) and, short term, ending the Iran war by ending their ability to respond by taking out power, water and other supporting public facilities. Yes, the UN would have a coronary but we did the same thing to the Germans when they all mostly supported the NAZI's... how is fundamental Islam any less despotic and evil?"

  • "I am not sure what the answer is here but I just hope that they make the decision independent of political influence or pressure. These decisions need to be made by experts who have the best interest of the US economy and it's global influence in mind."
