How do you feel about Biden’s expected veto?

👍 Strongly agree (27%) – "I think we need to help point people into the right direction when it comes to socially responsible decisions. We have unfortunately shown that without some nudging, too many people can't be bothered to consider the greater social good."

📈 Agree/Somewhat agree (16%) – "I think in this case, the government can stay out of how I want to invest my money. I understand the concerns, and I think that's on the owner of the investment to understand and decide if they are alright with investing in those companies that may not be up to par."

🤷 Neutral (16%) – "Presidents have the power to veto. Given that this bill was voted mostly on party lines, it doesn't seem to be an unreasonable situation to exercise a veto. That said, I'm against using ESG to design investment portfolios. Policy doesn't have a place in investments, and firms that use ESG to make investment decisions are undermining their fiduciary duty to their clients."

📉 Disagree/Somewhat disagree (15%) – "It creates a slippery slope when we allow the government to tell its citizens how to invest their money. It's MY retirement, not anyone else's." 

👎 Strongly disagree (26%) – "Retirement fund managers are paid to invest your money with the intent of making a profit, not a political or environmental statement. We can do that investing on our own through charitable contributions. Plus most research shows that companies allowing this have had lower returns or lost money compared to funds that don’t practice this strategy."
