Good evening. ESPN’s direct-to-consumer app launched today, making all of the Worldwide Leader’s traditional TV products available on streaming for people who don’t pay for cable TV.

It costs $29.99/month, but will stay the same price when bundled with Disney+ and Hulu for a year before it jumps to $35.99—a move Disney is betting will reduce churn.

Features include:

  • A TikTok-style vertical video feed, because everyone else is doing it so why not.
  • “SC For You” (in beta), which uses the AI-generated voices of SportsCenter anchors to deliver a daily version of the show tailored to each user’s favorite teams, leagues, and sports.
  • Enhanced connection between the mobile app and ESPN TV app, allowing for play-by-play updates, betting information, and fantasy alerts.

Another cable about cable: Fox today launched Fox One, a new streaming service that brings the company's news, sports, and entertainment programming under one roof, in a similar move that also targets America’s ~65 million cord-cutters and cord-nevers. Consumers can bundle Fox One with the new ESPN app for $39.99/month—just ask for a “combo #1” at the drive-thru window.
