🤗 The Sweet Spotlight | | ✈️ When family finds you | Images: SWNS | You could call it divine timing—or just a major odds-defying coincidence. Two pairs of distant cousins from opposite sides of the Atlantic literally bumped into each other while visiting the same ancestor’s grave in England last month. How it happened… Ian Brandon and Malcolm Atkins, both from the UK, had spent seven years tracing their family roots before finally visiting St. Peter’s Church in Raunds, Northamptonshire, to pay respects to their great-great-great-grandfather, Anthony Smith. - Meanwhile, across the ocean, Rand and Janeel Smith had traveled 3,700 miles from Kansas City to do the very same thing, following in the footsteps of Rand’s grandfather, who’d made the same pilgrimage 40 years earlier.
The two couples’ paths converged in the most unlikely way. As Rand stood at the gravestone, Janeel asked the nearby strangers if they “knew that person,” to which Ian replied, “That’s my third great-grandfather.” Rand paused, stunned: “That’s my third great-grandfather.” Cue disbelief, laughter, and one of the most improbable family reunions in recent memory. |
|
| Talk about a small world… The men soon learned they were fourth cousins, separated by generations and oceans, but connected by one family line—and a very lucky timing window. “If we’d arrived half an hour later, we never would’ve met,” said Malcolm They capped the day over pints at a local pub, swapping stories and discovering how much they had in common. “We feel divine intervention put us together,” Rand said. “What a highlight of our lives.” From genealogy research to GPS misfires, a stuck car, and a perfectly timed question, it all lined up just right. Because sometimes, family really does find you. ❤️ |

📸 Pic of the Week | | Image: Will Henderson | An Australian farmer really went above and beyond with his proposal to his girlfriend at the end of canola crop season. Will Henderson spent five months growing and tending to the field pictured above, before he hopped on a small plane with Steph, his love of five years, and popped the question. - Upon landing, a whole group of friends and family were waiting for them in the field. The couple is planning their big day for sometime in 2027.

🍩 DONUT Holes | | 🐾 Texas-based United K9 is training pups to help veterans manage PTSD, physical injuries, and other mental health challenges, giving the vets independence and the dogs a new sense of purpose. 💸 Virginia resident Carrie Edwards won $150,000 in the Powerball about a month ago. Now she’s donating every penny to charities in need. 🐓 A Honolulu engineer managed to turn an unlikely waste product—chicken feathers—into a durable, eco-friendly fabric that could one day rival cotton. That’s one plucky invention. |

😇 Mindfulness Moments | | 🥰 The joy of being intentional | I loved this article about the benefits of setting purposeful daily intentions for a more driven life. - The act of choosing a specific intention or intentions to live your life by each day helps rewire your Reticular Activation System (RAS). Your RAS is basically the set of "rules" by which you see the world—and through mindfulness and intentionality, we can decide what we see as "true" each day.
- For example: If you repeatedly chose to see your life in a positive and focused way, you'll start to see the positive things all around you🥰.
This can be a game-changer: Click here to dive deeper into how to write or choose your intentions, and why they're so benefical for us. But for now, here are some of my favorites: - I intend to do my best today to achieve my goals.
- I intend to do something fun solely for joy today.
- I intend to bring abundance and goodness into my life.
- I intend to be grateful for at least 3 things today.
- I intend to see my beauty and accept my flaws.
📈 Choose your favorite and declare it as your intention for the day. The more you repeat it, the more you'll believe it! |

🏆 What’s Your Win? | | 🎤 Isn’t there a song about this? | Cause all we do is win, win, win 😎. Welcome to What’s Your Win, the section of the newsletter where we celebrate all of the good news from readers just like you. I love sharing positivity from around the world each week—but theres something extra special about sharing the good from right here in our community. Check out the wins we received this week! 🤩 One anonymous subscriber from New England is finding joy in putting herself out there… - “I have been challenging myself to get out and socialize more. I'm totally introverted (though not shy), so socializing takes a lot out of me and I have often chosen the "easy" option of staying home with my pup and creature comforts over putting myself out there for the past few years. To be honest, it has left me feeling lonely and awkward. It doesn't help that I have moved a few times over the past few years. My long-time/childhood friends all live in different states too so I only get to see them 1-2 times a year. I have tried several different activities and classes for the past 9-12 months and I have not only found a couple of great hobbies through this challenge, but have started to actually enjoy and look forward to going to these activities (instead of dreading them and trying to come up with excuses not to go - which I did often in the beginning!) Last week I chatted with a new friend about making plans to ski together this winter! I even spent this past weekend helping another new friend sell her wares at a festival. I feel super proud of myself for putting myself out there, chatting instead of being so quiet, and trying hard to be myself in these new situations. I am enjoying these new hobbies so much and it feels great to spend time around people who share my interests! Next up is reaching out about volunteering at a local animal shelter.”
🏡 Laurie N from Oxnard, California, is ready for a new adventure… |
|
| - “I recently retired in January after many years of working at a community college in Oxnard, California. My husband of 25 years (also retired) and I have decided to move out of the community that we’ve lived in for 40+ years and try a new adventure. We are moving to Washington state next week and are downsizing from a 2600 square-foot home to a 1300 square-foot condo. We are going to take the time to travel and find ways to open up our lives to new experiences. It’s a little scary but exciting and we are looking forward to meeting and making new friends.”
🎨 Alivia B. from Asheville, North Carolina, is celebrating her sister… |
|
| - “I wanted to share a big win for my sister, Hannah! She is a talented artist but has a lot of social anxiety. She’s been working hard on it and has finally gotten to a place where she’s brave enough to get out of her comfort zone. She now has her amazing art featured at a popular local art gallery. Her first open show is tomorrow and I’m so proud of her! Here is a picture of her art display at the gallery (disco balls 🪩🕺💃)!"
