📜 October 27: On This Day in History

Reversing the curse

Image: Waltham Public Library

Each of the following events happened on October 27. Your challenge is to put them in the order in which they occurred by year, earliest to latest. Answers at the bottom!

  • A) Boston Red Sox win the World Series for the first time in 86 years, finally vanquishing the so-called “Curse of the Bambino.” Ever since team owner Harry Frazee sold the great Babe Ruth to the Yankees, the Red Sox had to this point been unable to win the World Series.
  • B) Rock singer-songwriter Bruce Springsteen appears on the covers of both Time and Newsweek magazines following the release of his breakthrough album, "Born to Run."
  • C) The Federalist Papers start appearing in New York newspapers under the pseudonym "Publius" (written by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay).
  • D) “Disneyland,” Walt Disney’s first TV show, premieres on ABC. The series is an anthology show featuring content from the future park's four lands: Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, Adventureland, and Frontierland.

Hint: Coming in third is a Boss move.
