📜 November 25: On This Day in History

Taken by storm

Image: History

Each of the following events happened on November 25. Your challenge is to put them in the order in which they occurred by year, earliest to latest. Answers at the bottom!

  • A) A winter “storm of the century” hits the eastern part of the United States, killing hundreds and causing millions of dollars in damages. Western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, and West Virginia are blanketed with several feet of snow for days, making travel impossible for nearly a week in some areas.
  • B) The UN General Assembly recognizes the first International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, following years of campaigning by multiple rights organizations.
  • C) Manhattan Project leaders, including J. Robert Oppenheimer, choose Los Alamos, New Mexico, as the site for developing the world’s first atomic bomb. The US government builds a modern city from scratch at this location to house employees.
  • D) Agatha Christie's The Mousetrap opens at the Ambassadors Theater in London's West End. The classic whodunit murder mystery goes on to become the world's longest-running play, and is still being performed today.

Hint: The movie version of Oppenheimer debuted at #1
