• B) Buffalo Bill Cody makes his first stage appearance on December 17, 1872, in a Chicago-based production of The Scouts of the Prairie. Cody was already a well-known figure of the Wild West, appearing in popular dime novels across the country.
• C) The Simpsons make their television debut with the Christmas special “Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire.” Weekly episodes began airing in January of the next year.
• D) The first issue of Vogue is published. Creator Arthur Baldwin Turnure wants a new magazine dedicated to providing running commentary—and “occasional rebuke”—on the lifestyles of high-end American families like the Vanderbilts and Astors.

• B) 1872 – Buffalo Bill Cody makes his first stage appearance. Cody was a Pony Express rider, military scout, and hunting guide on the frontier before his stage fame. Cody began to earn his famous nickname in 1867, when he signed on to provide buffalo meat for railroad workers.
• D) 1892 – The first issue of Vogue is published. Publisher Condé Nast later purchased Vogue in 1905 and changed it to focus almost entirely on women and fashion.
• A) 1903 – The Wright brothers make the first successful flight in history. By 1905, their aircraft could perform complex maneuvers and remain aloft for up to 39 minutes per flight.
