Each of the following events happened on February 12. Your challenge is to put them in the order in which they occurred by year, earliest to latest. Answers at the bottom!

  • A) French fashion designer Christian Dior launches his first collection: the “New Look.”
  • B) Future US president Abraham Lincoln is born in Hodgenville, KY. Lincoln would go on to preserve the Union during the Civil War and sign the Emancipation Proclamation, freeing slaves across America.
  • C) A group that includes African American leaders W.E.B. Du Bois and Ida B. Wells-Barnett announce the formation of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
  • D) The five-week impeachment trial of President Bill Clinton ends, with the Senate voting to acquit on both articles of impeachment (perjury and obstruction of justice).

Hint: Lincoln was about unity, bringing the country together as one.
