- D) Parolee Rodney G. King stops his car after leading police on a nearly 8-mile pursuit through the streets of Los Angeles and is struck up 56 times by police with batons, suffering a fractured leg, multiple facial fractures, and numerous bruises and contusions. The incident and later acquittal of the officers sparks riots across LA.
