Sunnydale slayer

Each of the following events happened on March 10. Your challenge is to put them in the order in which they occurred by year, earliest to latest. Answers at the bottom!

  • A) Cult TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer premieres. Created by Joss Whedon, the show centers on Buffy Summers, “an alternative feminist icon” who battles vampires, demons, and other supernatural forces in the fictional town of Sunnydale.
  • B) Activist and spiritual leader Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi is arrested in Bombay on his most serious charge yet: sedition. Gandhi, nicknamed Mahatma, which means “the great-souled one,” is sentenced to six years in prison for protesting the British colonial government.
  • C) Cuba's national baseball team plays Puerto Rico in the first round of the inaugural World Baseball Classic. Prior to now, Cuban baseball had been largely isolated from the rest of the world thanks to leader Fidel Castro. One of the only teams without an MLB player on its roster, Cuba made it to the finals where it eventually lost to Japan.
  • D) The first discernible speech is transmitted over a telephone system, when inventor Alexander Graham Bell summons his assistant in another room by saying, “Mr. Watson, come here; I want you.” Bell had received a comprehensive telephone patent three days earlier.

Hint: Mr. Bell’s telephone call was one-way
