  • A) The Girl Scouts organization is founded by Juliette Gordon Low at the first-ever troop meeting in Savannah, GA. Today, the Girl Scouts have almost 2 million members.
  • B) German troops march into Austria to annex the German-speaking nation for the Third Reich. Leader Adolf Hitler soon appoints a new Nazi government in Austria and declares it a federal state of Germany.
  • C) For the first and only time in history, the US House of Representatives votes to impeach a Supreme Court Justice, Samuel Chase, for having "behaved in an arbitrary, oppressive and unjust way" in two politically sensitive cases. The Senate later votes to acquit Chase.
  • D) President Franklin D. Roosevelt gives his first national radio address, or “fireside chat”, broadcast directly from the White House. Roosevelt’s address is designed to ease economic fears and inspire confidence in his leadership.

Hint: To date, only one SCOTUS Justice has been impeached
