Each of the following events happened on March 16. Your challenge is to put them in the order in which they occurred by year, earliest to latest. Answers at the bottom!

• A) Robert H. Goddard successfully launches the world’s first liquid-fueled rocket at a site in Massachusetts. The rocket, fueled by liquid oxygen and gasoline, travels for 2.5 seconds at a speed of ~60 MPH, reaching an altitude of just over 40 feet.
• B) The United States Military Academy, America’s first military school, is founded by Congress for the purpose of educating and training young men in the theory and practice of military science. It’s often simply known as West Point, the school’s location in New York.
• C) A platoon of US soldiers brutally kills as many as 500 unarmed civilians in My Lai, one of a cluster of small villages near South Vietnam’s northern coast. The crime is kept secret for nearly two years, but later becomes known as the My Lai Massacre.
• D) The Scarlet Letter, Nathaniel Hawthorne’s story of adultery and betrayal in colonial America, is published. The novel focuses on Hester Prynne, who conceives a daughter out of wedlock and must wear a scarlet letter 'A' (for "adultery").
