Your challenge is to put them in the order in which they occurred by year, earliest to latest. Answers at the bottom! - A) Mr. Potato Head becomes the first toy advertised on TV. The original kit has ~30 stick-on facial features—real spud not included. The ad helps Mr. Potato Head sell 1+ million units in its first year.
- B) German leader Adolf Hitler kills himself by swallowing a cyanide capsule and shooting himself in the head in his bunker. Soon after, Germany unconditionally surrenders to Allied forces, ending Hitler’s dream of a “Thousand-Year Reich.”
- C) Computer scientist Tim Berners-Lee releases the source code for the world’s first web browser and editor. The browser, which he calls WorldWideWeb, becomes the first royalty-free, easy-to-use means of browsing the early internet.
- D) English physicist J.J. Thomson announces the discovery of the electron, which helps revolutionize the knowledge of atomic structure. Thomson is later awarded the Nobel Prize for Physics for his findings.
