Each of the following events happened on May 15. Your challenge is to put them in the order in which they occurred by year, earliest to latest. Answers at the bottom!

  • A) Mickey Mouse makes his on-screen debut in a test screening of Plane Crazy. The six-minute silent short animation shows Mickey piloting a plane with Minnie, who escapes his advances by parachuting away using her bloomers.
  • B) President John Adams orders the federal government to pack up and leave Philadelphia, officially setting up shop in the nation’s new capital in Washington, D.C.
  • C) Nylon stockings first go on sale to the general public in the US. Stores sell out almost immediately, with some 4 million pairs sold in just four days.
  • D) The first regular airmail route in the United States opens between NYC and Washington, D.C. It comprises six converted US Army biplanes flown by Army pilots, carrying ~140 lbs of mail per plane.

Hint: Air mail was delivered by biplanes, which have 2 main wings
