Your challenge is to put them in the order in which they occurred by year, earliest to latest. Answers at the bottom! - A) Connecticut becomes the first state to pass a law regulating motor vehicles, limiting their speed to 12 MPH in cities and 15 MPH on country roads.
- B) Amelia Earhart becomes the first pilot to repeat Charles Lindbergh’s solo, nonstop flight across the Atlantic Ocean, and the first female to do so. Earhart traveled 2,000+ miles from Newfoundland to Ireland in just under 15 hours.
- C) The American National Red Cross is founded by Clara Barton and Adolphus Solomons to provide humanitarian aid to victims of wars and natural disasters, in congruence with the International Red Cross.
- D) The Flavr Savr tomato, the first genetically modified food product approved for human consumption in the US, debuts on grocery store shelves. Engineered to delay ripening, it cost 70 cents more per pound than conventional tomatoes.
