• D) Jack the Ripper’s first victim, Mary Ann “Polly” Nichols, is found dead in the Whitechapel district of London’s East End. The 43-year-old mother of five was living apart from her husband and struggling with alcoholism and poverty. Polly is the first of five women believed with certainty to have been murdered by the serial killer.
