📜 September 11: On This Day in History

Swinging for history

Image: TIME

Each of the following events happened on September 11. Your challenge is to put them in the order in which they occurred by year, earliest to latest. Answers at the bottom!

  • A) Pete Rose registers his 4,192nd career MLB hit, breaking the record set by Ty Cobb. Rose would later be banned from baseball for betting, though he regained Hall of Fame eligibility after his death.
  • B) Donny Osmond, a 13 year-old teen idol, earns his first solo No. 1 hit with “Go Away Little Girl.” It’s a major milestone for Osmond, who began his professional career as a dimpled, 5-year-old frontman of the family barbershop quintet.
  • C) General Augusto Pinochet leads a coup d’état in Chile, overthrowing the democratically elected socialist government of President Salvador Allende. Gen. Pinochet would lead the country for 17 years after the coup.
  • D) Construction begins on the Pentagon in Arlington county, Virginia. It represents one of the largest office buildings in the world, serving as headquarters for branches of the US Department of Defense including the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

Hint: The Department of Defense is often considered America’s 1st line of defense

Remember that genius 2am idea that lives rent-free in the group chat? Could be a stats tracker, a sign-up page, maybe even a whole side hustle. Crazy to think Floot could build it with a simple conversation.

Floot connects to ChatGPT and turns that idea into a real, working masterpiece. It handles everything from the database and hosting to the live link you can send out. There’s no need for a dev team or a funding round. Simply Floot it in your chat.
