📜 September 16: On This Day in History | | Good morning, Seattle! | Image: KTVB | Each of the following events happened on September 16. Your challenge is to put them in the order in which they occurred by year, earliest to latest. Answers at the bottom! - A) The sitcom Frasier, a spin-off of the beloved show Cheers, debuts on NBC. The series and Kelsey Grammar-led cast would go on to win 37 Primetime Emmys, setting a record for scripted series.
- B) William Durant creates General Motors. Durant, a high-school dropout, starts out with the opposite business plan of fellow Michigan-based automaker Ford, producing a wide variety of cars rather than only the Model T.
- C) The Mayflower sets sail from Plymouth, England, bound for the Americas with 102 passengers. The ship heads for Virginia, where the colonists—half religious dissenters and half entrepreneurs—are authorized to settle by the British crown.
- D) The Burke-Wadsworth Act is approved by Congress by wide margins in both houses, imposing the first peacetime draft of soldiers in US history.
Hint: Frasier was the last direct spinoff of Cheers |
