📜 September 24: On This Day in History | | Smells Like Teen Spirit | Image: Loudwire | Each of the following events happened on September 24. Your challenge is to put them in the order in which they occurred by year, earliest to latest. Answers at the bottom! - A) Alt-rock group Nirvana releases breakthrough album Nevermind, featuring the famous cover featuring a four-month-old baby swimming toward a dollar bill. It’s the first Nirvana release to feature drummer Dave Grohl, and would help make grunge an international music phenomenon.
- B) The Judiciary Act establishing the US Supreme Court is approved by Congress and signed into law. The high court is initially made up of six justices, who are to serve on the court until retirement or death.
- C) Don Budge wins the US Open, becoming the first player to complete the Grand Slam and win all four major tennis tournaments in a single year. His streak would end at six straight Grand Slam wins, which is still the all-time men’s record.
- D) Devils Tower, a massive rock formation in Wyoming, is proclaimed as America’s first national monument.
Hint: 3 of the tennis grand slam tournaments are outside the US |
