The company had started giving most workers Fridays off in September as part of a three-month trial. Others working in customer-facing or critical roles adapted their shift pattern to provide cover, Fast Company reports.

🔢 By the numbers… Following the trial's conclusion, Bolt surveyed its employees to find out their thoughts. Some of the results:

  • 94% are in favor of continuing
  • 86% are more efficient with their time
  • 84% have improved work-life balance
  • 84% are more productive at work
  • 80% have eliminated unnecessary meetings

From an overall company perspective, creativity has increased, work has become more efficient, and productivity has jumped, according to founder and CEO Ryan Breslow.

📸 The big picture: Bolt is one of a handful of firms in the US that have moved to the shortened workweek. And as companies continue to struggle to attract workers, they're becoming more and more open to experimentation.

Online job marketplace ZipRecruiter contained 4.5 times as many postings mentioning four-day workweeks last year compared to 2016, per Bloomberg – but all together, they still represent just 0.6% of all postings.

The Christmas Bonus That Wasn’t

🎁 Christmas 2021 seemed like any other day for English bank Santander – processing payments, crushing Excel, and shouting on the phone (that's what bankers do, right?) – but there was one notable difference.
