The AI industry is preparing for its biggest Wall Street debut yet, with a potential price tag that makes the GDP of most countries look like Monopoly money.

Anthropic, the company behind the Claude chatbot, filed paperwork yesterday to go public, setting the stage for what could become the largest IPO in history.

The move would make Anthropic the first of the major AI startups to hit the stock market, giving everyday investors a chance to buy into the ever-growing AI race.

Here's what we know

Anthropic shares will list on the tech-heavy Nasdaq under the ticker symbol "ANT," per the company's filing.

  • Anthropic also reported $16.3 billion in revenue during the first half of 2026, up ~14x from a year earlier, largely driven by businesses using its AI software.
  • The company disclosed an $80.7 billion net loss over the same period, largely reflecting an accounting adjustment tied to financing agreements.

What we don’t know: Anthropic hasn't revealed its target valuation or how many shares it plans to sell. Anthropic could raise $100 billion or more—eclipsing SpaceX’s all-time IPO record of $75 billion—at a valuation between $1.5 trillion–$2 trillion, per the Wall Street Journal, with exact details expected when Anthropic files updated paperwork after gauging investor feedback.

What to expect: Analysts say Anthropic’s IPO, which comes months ahead of a similar move from OpenAI, is likely to become a referendum on the business of AI, as investors increasingly look for returns to justify the trillions of dollars being poured into AI infrastructure costs.

Looking ahead… Anthropic is reportedly targeting the week of November 16 for its market debut, though the company says its plans could change.
