How kindness = good karma

Last year, Sebbie Hall was honored with an award I think everyone at Positive DONUT would agree is one of the best you can get: The Kindest Man in his country.

The 21-year-old believes kindness is his "superpower," and has carried out an act of kindness every day for over four years.

  • His daily acts of kindness started during the Covid pandemic, but Sebbie has continued the tradition ever since. A statue of the young man wearing a superhero cape was unveiled in his honor at Tower Hill in London last November.

Not all sunshine and rainbows... Sebbie has a rare chromosome anomaly that causes him to have a wide range of physical and communication difficulties. He never lets it get in his way however, and thanks to his mom, is always able to complete his acts of kindness.

  • Sebbie’s mom, Ashley, runs the Sebbie Hall Kindness foundation in his honor, and has raised more than $130,000 for disadvantaged people in Staffordshire.

And if that's not inspiring enough for those with a discerning Positive palate, the story gets better.

Sebbie’s community was distraught when the original venue holding his statue no longer had the means to keep it on their grounds. And after transporting the statue to a temporary art exhibit, which also announced they could no longer keep it, Sebbie's statue was at risk of being melted down for scrap metal and recycled.

The town of Lichfield did everything it could to save the statue (they eventually succeeded). And when two contractors who were hired to move the 240-pound sculpture to a temporary storehouse couldn’t lift it, more than a dozen strangers even rallied to get the sculpture safely to its new home.

“It was heartwarming to hear how the people of Lichfield pulled together to save the Sebbie statue, which means so much to Sebbie and his family,” Oliver Chapman, an entrepreneur who helped orchestrate the relocation of the sculpture, told Metro. “The statue acts as a beacon of hope for all disabled young people worldwide and needs to be preserved.”

👀 Looking ahead... Oliver and the Sebbie Hall Kindness Foundation are currently on the hunt for the statue's new (and hopefully permanent) home.
