Eco-artist Mariah Reading has become a pro at turning trash into treasure. Collecting waste and debris from public lands and state parks, Mariah paints miniature landscapes on each piece, then photographs them back where they were found—so the trash almost disappears into the view.

Her idea is straightforward: get people to look twice, and then think a little longer about what we leave behind.
