The federal government is vastly underestimating the amount of “forever chemicals” known as PFAS that are present in America’s drinking water, per a peer-reviewed study from nonprofit environmental group Natural Resources Defense Council that was published yesterday.

  • The study found 26 different types of PFAS in drinking water across 16 states – and 12 of those 26 forever chemicals are not currently included in the EPA’s water-purification standards.
