  • The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists – a nonprofit founded by Albert Einstein, J. Robert Oppenheimer, and University of Chicago scientists who worked on the Manhattan Project – has decided to keep its Doomsday Clock at 90 seconds to midnight for the second straight year. The bulletin says it opted to stick with the same reading, its closest-ever to midnight, due to a combination of factors including climate change, the rise of AI, and heightened global tensions involving nuclear-capable nations. The good news in all of this? It takes Thirty Seconds to Mars, so humanity can at least make a couple trips to the red planet before it all ends.

🪧💼 Stat of the Day: About 10% of all US workers were members of a labor union in 2023, the lowest figure in at least two decades, per a new Labor Department report. Since 2019, union wages have climbed an average of 15%, while non-union weekly pay is up by 22%.
