A Houston man pleaded guilty to eavesdropping on his work-from-home spouse – a mergers and acquisitions manager at BP – then using the info he overheard to make $1.8 million in an insider trading scheme. The alleged illegal trading was eventually uncovered by BP, after which the wife was terminated from the company (she also later filed for divorce). The husband, who faces a sentence of up to five years in federal prison, agreed to forfeit all illegal proceeds as part of his plea agreement.
