Do you personally consider unauthorized immigration to be: a crisis, fairly significant problem, minor problem, or not a problem for the US?

Crisis (37%) – "It feeds into all economic and crime issues. Economic first. We as a nation are deeply in debt and illegal immigration is one of many factors weighing on our fiscal well-being. Yes, we love legal immigrants who bring smarts and enough wealth to contribute. Let’s support our veterans and our own poor. Crime issues involving illegal immigrants might be newsy and ramped up by the press but having so many illegals is a disaster waiting to happen."

  • "It's such a crisis because these illegal immigrants are taking already scarce resources away from tax paying citizens especially middle class families which relies on free after school or summer programs. My child could not get into free summer programs this year because all the illegal immigrants gets a spot first. My tax dollars are going to service a child who's parent doesn't even pay a penny in taxes. How fair is that my child has to suffer and I have to pay for child care when I don't even make enough to pay the rent/mortgage, utilities and put food on the table due to inflation. They all need to be sent back and enter through the proper channels."

"America needs significant immigration to retain our economic position, but we need specific individuals and we need to deter certain individuals that have nefarious intentions. The flood of undetermined individuals is absolutely a crisis."

  • "It's still a crisis. As a school district, our number of students who are new to the country has risen dramatically, and it still rising. It costs a significant amount of money to educate these children. Don't get me wrong, I love the students, but there has to be limits on the number of people immigrating to the US, and the system has to be followed."

Fairly significant problem (29%) – "The US doesn’t have an immigration problem. It has a foreign policy problem. US actions and US sanctioned actions keep countries and regions of the Global South impoverished which failures of environmental protection lead to the countries which pollute least to bear the brunt of climate change. When a country cannot provide a living and/or is regularly dealing with natural disasters that it has very little—if any—hand in creating, what choice is left but to try and flee to the countries (including the US) who created the situation and continue to maintain it in an effort to maintain their own comfort?"

  • "While I’m sympathetic to those coming here for a better life or to escape brutality, there’s still a problem. Our southern border is a sieve, which Immigration and Border Patrol have been unable to close. Which means that in addition to legitimate immigrants coming here for better lives, it’s also a way for terrorists to come here. Can you pick the mid-easterners out from the Hispanics by sight? Most likely not. And they can easily pay the Coyotes fees to be smuggled into the US. Without an effective border control, this nation is in “clear and present danger” from our enemies."

"Globally, we need to address why people are seeking asylum or crossing borders to get to the USA in the first place. There was a significant change in work visa permits and this also adversely impacted border crossings."

Minor problem (22%) – "Migration of people groups has been going on since the beginning of time. It should be accepted and managed. Fighting it with a hard line is like fighting the waves of the sea. The sea will ultimately win. Of course we need rules but every creative idea has been shot down for years."

  • "Because I support immigration. I think they should make it easier. Many migrants are leaving unspeakably difficult, violent circumstances. They want to follow rules and do it legally, but it is so hard to know how to do that."

Not a problem (12%) – "We need bipartisan immigration reform & get funds & employees into the system to get immigration running properly again. The U.S. needs immigration because of our low birth rates. We need the workers & taxpayers."
