Support (32%) – "Negotiations failed. It was time to act. Iran's leaders saw the signs. This wasn't a surprise. The US and the rest of the free world cannot allow an unstable country to achieve nuclear weapon production capability. The US offered to supply all they needed for electricity. That by itself said we care about their people. I hope their people take this opportunity to evolve their government away from religious zealots."
"Doing this long ago would have saved a host of lives around the world and in the region in addition to deterring the growth of terrorism and islamic terrorist organizations around the world. Talk with such people achieve nothing without a 'big stick' to back it up and Iran hasn't been talking but lying and stalling while getting on with their terrorist agenda and massively destructive weapons programs. That said, the people there need to arrange for a new peaceful government suiting their needs and not have another puppet 'Shah' 'installed'."
Oppose (58%) – "This was illegal (no Congressional approval) and for no real reason. The U.S. was not in imminent danger and Iran is a sovereign nation. No matter how much Trump wants it, he isn't the king of the world. And that doesn't even mention all of the lives lost, life-long injuries, and families devastated because of the harm brought to people in Iran as well as our own military forces. If these bombings are "pinpoint" why was a girls' school targeted?"
"I do not think that he should have remained the ruler forever but worry about the rush of this operation without a clear and immediate threat to the US if we did not act. I worry it will hurt everyone more in the long term by not having a longer term plan flushed out.. It seems the strike happened and the war happened because the US ran out of patience than to prevent an imminent threat. (Of course there was likely always the threat.. I just don't see evidence that warranted on us acting now - who knows maybe we're just not privy to that info.. but am skeptical)"
"We have far more important issues going on here at home. This was nothing but an attempted distraction from the reprehensible crimes and actions of Donald Trump and the Republican party. This country should be working to heal itself rather than focusing on outside interests."
Unsure/other (10%) – "I find my opinions on this are nuanced. I have an Iranian friend who would love to see change in Iran; it's clear that change is needed. And from what I gather, many Iranians want it. However, my opinion as an American is that America needs to stop being world police, and focus more on domestic issues. Likewise, there will be a lot of death and displacement. Innocent civilians will suffer. It's also very unclear whether American intervention will be short, minimize death and suffering for the local population and actually be effective, or whether this becomes a quagmire like Iraq & Afghanistan."
