Support (26%) – "I just can't imagine anyone not supporting the defense of our country and it's actions. It is very clear the intention of Iran is to destroy the US. With the military in charge vs an elected people, how can anyone imagine that their intentions are peaceful? Military exists to inflict violence - whether in defense or offense. Neither are a sign of peace. The act of mining the strait is also violent. You don't deploy mines hoping they don't harm anyone. You deploy them to inflict harm on whomever happens upon them - innocent as well as invaders or countrymen. Peace isn't in play here."
"I support what the US is doing by taking down a terrorist islamic regime promoting death throughout the world. What I do not support is allowing the countries military islamic guard, radical as it is in it's hate and control, to continue to exist as it will propel Iran right back to the hellish evil it aspired to, and achieved, in the past. The death penalty is the only way to deal with the incorrigible who want to take people's lives and freedom. Why come this far only to 'drop the ball?' The guard will not change, they've made to many enemies in country and without. To live they must maintain control."
Oppose (69%) – "America’s escapades in Iran have been a debacle from the beginning, with so little accomplished at such great cost to all. There is no victory to be salvaged here, no matter how the administration may try to spin it."
"The US war strategy hinged on a surprise attack to simultaneously kill Iran's top layers of leadership. Despite the attack, Iran recovered essential organizational functions almost immediately. After gaining control of the Strait of Hormuz, Iran flipped the script and now holds a significant portion of the world's oil supply - and global economy - hostage. Despite month's of White House spin - we have obviously lost this unnecessary war. Iran is now far stronger, we are far weaker today. What of the many lives that have been lost? What positive and beneficial things could have been done with the billions spent? An Epic Blunder."
"I don't see any long term benefit for our country. The main point is to deny Iran the capability of possessing or using nuclear weapons. Seems to me that even if they gave up all there capacity for enrichment, the could easily acquire them from other countries. Also understand that all intelligence agency and other senior officials advised the President against going to war, especially with no Congressional approval. There also appears to be too much influence by Israel into this quagmire. Shortages, famine, and rising oil prices seem like the only result so far. Declare victory and get out."
"It’s quite literally an illegal war, congress never voted to approve. We went in with no real plan for no real purpose and now we are worse off, no nuclear deal, and the entire global economy is paying for it."
Unsure/other (5%) – "We entered Iran under highly questionable circumstances with no clear, tenable path to a victory we never defined; however, leaving now would make it worse. We would leave one of the world's most murderous and destructive regimes in control of one of the most important shipping lanes on the planet. The only way out for us, much though I hate to admit it, is through. And I don't know what victory could possibly look like. I suspect we-the-public will be ultimately fed a defeat wrapped in the trappings of victory to make it palatable."
