Do you support or oppose the US-proposed peace plan aimed at permanently ending fighting in the Gaza Strip?

Support (51%) – "I support a peace plan, but I have serious doubts about the actual implementation of it. The two sides have a long history of conflict which I'm not sure will ever be settled in my lifetime."

  • "The only way there can be peace for the people of Gaza is through total disarmament of Hamas and their repudiation as a political/military force in Gaza. Israel, meanwhile, must commit to the withdrawal timeline and commit to pulling back to the Yellow Line to keep their settlements along the border with Gaza safe."

"I support any, ANY, peace agreement in Gaza. Unfortunately, based on historical facts, I don't see a clear path to peace in this region. The older generation of Palestinians still remember the Nakba from 1948 and the slow, over the years losses of Palestinian land and property, which occurred over the past several centuries. For a historical perspective, research the maps of Palestine over the last few centuries. The state of Palestine went from almost all of the region, to now almost nothing. The current generation of Palestinians see the destruction of Gaza at the will of Israel. And of course, there's Bibi, the wild card in this entire game. He gives me no indication that peace is the goal in Gaza. I pray for peace in Gaza, but I am fretful that my prayer will go unanswered."

  • "Need to end the conflict and start working towards a two state solution in the whole area."

"De-weaponing Gaza is a good first step. Implementing will be very difficult though."

Oppose (23%) – "It props up Israel's colonization and ethnic cleansing campaign. None of Israel's responsibilities in the ceasefire have been enforced so far, and they continue to kill, injure and destroy with impunity."

  • "Dealing with any in Islam is fraught with hazard as the, so called, religion itself (it's actually a barbaric form of government) OK's anything to advance itself as long as it is against non-muslims. Destruction and control are the only ways to have any chance of peace with them until they abandon the ways of the 'dark ages' that control Islam and it's adherents."

Unsure/other (26%) – "I fully support peace, but none of the parties involved have a track record of trust worthiness—not Israel, not Hamas, not the USA under the current administration—so I don’t see how this succeeds where every previous attempt has fallen apart. I hope it does, somehow, for the sake of the innocents living there."

  • "Not sure what the plan is but doubt that it will work given thousands of years of distrust and hatred on both sides. Also, no one has shown that they are willing to stop Israeli actions and invasion."

"I am so suspicious of anything happening under this administration, especially when an underlying interest previously stated by Trump was to develop the Gaza Strip. He seems more interested in the money that can be made with developing the land for him and his family than a real peace deal."
