Democrat (57%) – "I actually don't really like my Democratic candidate, but the Republican one is worse as a Trump lackey and enthusiast who, as far as I can tell, does not actually have his own backbone or policy positions. And the redistricting efforts offend me; if you have to play dirty to win, you're not winning. You're cheating."
"Republicans have consistently demonstrated an inability to govern. In Congress they have not fought to preserve the checks and balances our government relies on, nor held the president accountable for his many failings. Even at the best of times, the party falls victim to pretty infighting, when they should be prioritizing their constituents (regardless of party affiliation)."
"I am tired of Republicans pushing ideals which go against the Constitution and the intent of the Founders. Women have lost rights and there is fear that we may lose more if the Senate eliminates their 60 vote threshold and the pass the voting changes. Republicans are currently protecting the interests of Big Business while people have a difficult time affording the basics and healthcare."
Republican (31%) – "I'm an independent. I am not happy with the Republican handling of the economy, but our country is quickly moving towards socialism with the Democrats, and I can never support that. We are the greatest country in the world. Socialism will destroy everything we stand for. We were built on work ethic and opportunity, and we still have plenty of opportunity. It's very important to me to keep it that way."
"Let me be clear that I have issues with the Republicans. I'm unhappy with the economy, and I don't think we have any business in this war. However, Democrats have gone off the rails. I 100% know that what happened in NJ with non-citizens voting is far more widespread than what was found. I've seen it first hand. They've gone much too far with abortion and LGBTQ, specifically trans-gender. Children should not be taking drugs that will alter their future, and god forbid having surgery to alter their looks. The final nail was Tim Walz pardoning a child rapist. I've never seen anything like that, and I can't support it. And though I know there are fewer of them, this move towards socialism is alarming."
Third party (5%) – "For the first time in my life, I am now a single issue voter: America first and only - no foreign wars, money, or endless military support. I don’t care which party."
Unsure/other (7%) – "I'm not unsure, but this was the best choice of answer. I do not vote for any political party. I research the backgrounds of each candidate on my ballot and then cast my vote for the one that I feel is best suited for the position and who will look over all people, not just those who have voted for that person. Since all states send out sample ballots and voting prochures well in advance of the vote, people now, more than ever, need to do their own research. Turn off the social media and mainline news media, throw all the political material you receive in the mail, block all political calls, and use that time to do the research and self-education."
