More centrist-aligned party (59%) – "I would always vote for a moderate from either party. If I have the choice between a moderate democrat and a far right republican, I'll take the democrat. If my choice is a far left democrat and a centrist republican, I'll take the republican. If my choice is between a far left democrat and a far right republican, I'll take the republican. I have no interest in socialism. I consider myself a pretty typical suburban mom in a more progressive state, NJ."
"I'm afraid that a candidate who is too progressive will drive some undecided voters straight into the Republicans' arms. In addition, too many of these so-called progressives have extremist views of their own and are way too antisemitic to make me comfortable voting for them."
"I think a centrist aligned party is needed in policy in general but there are several issues that progressives support that Democrats need to embrace, especially affordability, health care, housing, and education. These used to be the Demcoratic platform but it became too entangled in the cultural wars, especially transgender right and too much focus on DEI that it lost a lot of its potential base. These rights are still important but should not be the predominate focus right now."
More progressive-aligned party (30%) – "The centrist/establishment Democratic party consistently fails to bring about effective change and actually stymies attempts from the progressive end, shooting the whole party in the foot. It has been incredibly frustrating to witness but we seem unable to break away from a two party system."
"It's bloody time the USA started taking care of its people: senior's should have homes & healthy food, children need a proper education, places to play sports & access to healthy food, honest hardworking 'poor' deserve decent, low cost housing & access to healthy food, everyone deserves good health care, not just those who can pay for it. This mindset of "me first" has to end. Greed has destroyed a nation."
Unsure/other (11%) – "I want to vote for the best candidate for the people they represent. Why is this so hard? It's a representative democracy and political parties should not be monoliths with "one big message". This "which side should win" thinking destroyed the Republican party. Can we have common sense, caring for the people, and leadership in our elections and government again?"
