What type of vehicle do you personally want for your next purchase?

Gas-powered (33%) – "I live in the rural north; the land of blizzards. Our closest plug in for a car is an hour drive. I do not have faith that, if caught in a snow storm, that an EV could get me home with full heat on. Especially if I am caught behind an accident that shuts down the road for a time. Once there is much longer battery time, I would purchase a hybrid."

  • "The availability of fuel is way, way more accessible than charging for longer distances than running around your neighborhood. Until that is equal electric vehicles are just toys."

"I would consider a hybrid, but I've never gotten one due to the expense of replacing the battery at 100,000 miles. I also find EVs stressful. Who wants to sit at a charging station for an hour? For now, I'll stick with the gas powered vehicle."

Hybrid (48%) – "I would love to go fully electric but the continental US is too vast, which means long road trips are still a hassle, even with the surge in charging stations. Barring legislation forcing fully electric vehicles, or batteries offering a comparable driving experience to gas (e.g., much longer ranges or rapid charge times), hybrid is the best option for balancing environmental impact and non-urban driving."

  • "My current hybrid is the best of both worlds. One reason is that on long trips, I only have to worry about finding a gas station and a short stop. If I had an electric it would take more planning and more time at each stop"

"I currently own a hybrid and gas mileage is GREAT!! Its self charging so I'm never searching for a charging station on long road trips. I do have to fuel up but only once a month or less. It a great option and I will be looking for one when my current car is no longer functioning."

  • "For now, at least, a plug in hybrid remains the most versatile option. It is effectively electric for local driving but not reliant on charging infrastructure if i need to drive longer distances."

"Uncertainty of finding charging stations along a travel route. I have an EV and sometimes have a hard time finding charging when I am traveling and staying out of town"

Fully electric (19%) – "Because I do not like the gas vehicle experience- endless trips to the gas station, oil changes at least twice a year, all of the other intercombustion engine issues and maintenance. EV vehicle ownership is just so much simpler."

  • "Never having to stop by a gas station while out running errands sounds good. With a few more solar panels, fuels is probably free. Hybrids gives you the worst of both worlds: you still have an ICE engine to maintain and very limited battery range."
