If the midterm election was held today, which political party’s candidate would you vote for?

Republican (28%) – "Republicans are far from perfect but they aren't nearly as self destructive of the country as Democrats group wise. Others, including Socialists, are just disastrous fantasy projects targeting 'bandwagon' supporters who shortsightedly look to their own benefits without investigating any associated facts; the same fools who would grab a piece of candy corn out of a hair trigger bear trap."

  • "Because Dems in California have made this state almost unlivable through their high taxes and so called progressive policies. Soaring costs and record homelessness are all to be blamed on the Democrats super majority here."

"Some of the Democrat candidates are way too extreme - I cannot support people who want to alter the success of our country's 250 years of history."

Democrat (59%) – "While there are third party candidates I could support, they are not viable at this time and for this election, I think it is imperative to remove Republicans from power as much as possible. Republican tacit support for Trump’s illegal/illegitimate actions -like redirecting funds appropriated by Congress- has undermined the checks and balances inherent in our democracy."

  • "We need a change from the do-nothing Republicans. I’m not saying Democrats are perfect; no party is. But this Congress has accomplished almost nothing for the people, and the current resident of the People’s House needs to be held accountable for the multitude of laws he has flouted and continues to flout. The House has been in recess more than they have been in session. It’s time for our elected pubic servants to work for the people instead of themselves!"

"The Republicans have had two years to run rampant, and the results have been so much worse than anyone imagined. We still have two more years to go under the current presidency, but we can at least use our votes to try and slow down the self-immolation of this country. Even though Democrats are far from perfect, they are the only other option we have at this time."

  • "I think Roy Cooper was a good governor in NC and will vote for him; I also feel that we need more people who are not under the president's thumb and will actually represent their constituents. This has been a very divided and upproductive congress for quite a few years."

"The Republicans have become so thoroughly debased in their slavish devotion to a narcissistic, sociopathic, and grifting President that I believe they have forfeited any credibility. If you want more of an illegal war, more higher prices at the pump and grocery store, more hardworking families ripped apart by a lawless government agency, more extra-judicicial murders of citizens and innocent people, more racism from the Defense Department, more measles and food contamination outbreaks, more ignorance and disdain of the rule of law; well then go ahead and vote for the Republican party candidates..... They are being willing participants in the President's attempts to create an authoritarian regime."

  • "I usually vote for 3rd party candidates hoping others will join me. But it seems like it is not likely in my lifetime. So, I have to get the candidates who are overtly screwing to country out of office rather than the ones covertly doing the same."

Third party (6%) – "Third party perhaps if enough third party gets in office the two party system will end, even though most end up following either republican or democrat parties just to stay in office. We should go by popular vote so the actual candidate that the people have chosen will win. The system we have is only for certain candidates to win. A few people once chosen can vote how they want and not what the people want. This needs to change along with term and age limits"

Unsure/other (7%) – "I do not vote strictly along party lines, as neither party’s political platform fully aligns with my values. In my view, both parties have become increasingly polarized and do not consistently address the needs of all constituents. I prefer to evaluate candidates individually and support those who have demonstrated an ability to make fair, impartial decisions based on the public interest rather than personal ideology. Across journalism, politics, and the judiciary, objective analysis is too often overshadowed by opinion."
