πΈ Pic of the Week | | An unlikely friendship | Image: Sheldrick Wildlife Trust | An orphaned rhino calf and baby zebra both arrived at the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust's nursery in Kenya within a week of each other. Since then, the two animals have found comfort in each other while they build up the strength and skills to return to the wild. - The two animals are "rarely apart," according to the facility.
- They often enjoy bottle feedings side-by-side, and love following each other around their rescue home.

π Whatβs Your Win? | | Itβs your time to shine | Welcome to Whatβs Your Win, the section of the newsletter where we celebrate all of the good news happening right here in our Positive DONUT community. We received so many submissions over the last few weeks that weβre taking some extra space in the newsletter today to highlight them! Check out this weekβs wins: π¬ Julia M. from Los Angeles, CA, is proving that chasing your dreams can pay offβ¦ - βOver the summer I just started being able to support myself just from acting! No more side jobs (at least right now). Iβve wanted to be an actor since I was little and Iβve been working on and off professionally for the last 4 years. While Iβm still non-union and booking smaller projects (Verticals), being able to pay all my bill just from acting jobs is a huge step in the right direction! β
πΎ Stacy T from Maryland is finding gratitude all around herβ¦ - βThree weeks ago I was moved by the large number of dogs at a local shelter that were about to be euthanized. I contacted one of the volunteers to help in some way, and a short while later I was suddenly a dog foster mom. One of the dogs on that list that they recommended for me had been removed from a van where she and two other large dogs had been living in the heat of summer with a far less fortunate family. Maggie, a Mastiff Pittbull mix was released to us one hour before her scheduled euthanasia. She arrived very thin, terrified, and spent the first hour with me painfully still at my feet while I reassured her she was safe.
- The past weeks have been emotional for her as she settles into a home and grows into the smart, sassy, sweet girl that she is. Some behavioral issues have come up, and the trainer with the expertise to overcome them is expensive. At the same time I have had some huge bills: a broken HVAC, car repairs, and more. Just when I was about to be broke, a large sum of money from a previous job finally came through. I can now fix my car to get the heat working again, feed my kids, pay my bills, and Maggie and my family are working with this dog trainer to get her to a place of trust and peace. I feel so fortunate and grateful for all of the love and resources in our life.β
π Diana H from Canton, MI, is one proud momβ¦ - βMy daughter, Grace, celebrated her 6th anniversary of self publishing her 1st book in October. She has written a total of five books and is working on her 6th. We are very proud of her.β
πΈ One anonymous subscriber is finding the joy in paying it forwardβ¦ - "My husband and I were grocery shopping over the weekend. We were at a store that doesn't take credit cards, only debit cards and cash. The woman checking out in front of us only had a credit card. She didn't have enough in her bank account to cover her groceries. I've been there, and I know how humiliating it is. So we stepped up and offered to pay for her groceries. At first she was defensive, wanting to know what we wanted from her. When we made it clear we didn't want anything, just to do a simple act of service, she started crying. She insisted we meet her sister who was waiting for her in their car. Who knew $150 could bring so much joy to two people? It was a small thing for me, but a huge thing for them, and I'm grateful I was in a place to do that for them.β
Even if you've been celebrated before, we'd love to keep receiving good news from you, so please don't hesitate to participate! (Some responses have been slightly edited for grammar/clarity) |
