📜 April 10: On This Day in History

It’s a game, old sport

Image: Roger Ebert

Each of the following events happened on April 10. Your challenge is to put them in the order in which they occurred by year, earliest to latest. Answers at the bottom!

  • A) F. Scott Fitzgerald’s third novel, The Great Gatsby, is published. The novel opens to mixed reviews and disappointing sales, with fewer than 25,000 copies sold by the author’s death. But by the 2010s, the novel routinely sells 500,000 copies/year
  • B) The RMS Titanic embarks on its maiden voyage, which ends in tragedy several days later after the luxury liner strikes an iceberg and sinks.
  • C) The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) is founded in New York City by Henry Bergh, a philanthropist and diplomat. A pioneer and innovator of the humane movement, the ASPCA quickly becomes the model for 25+ other humane organizations in the US and Canada.
  • D) The first color 3-D film, a horror movie called The House of Wax, opens at New York’s Paramount Theater. It’s also one of the first horror films to be shot in color.

Hint: For the ASPCA, preventing animal cruelty is their #1 priority

🙌🧺 In partnership with Laundry Sauce

That’s not the clean smell you think it is

Many detergents simply mask odor instead of removing it. The result: bacteria sticks around, and your “fresh” laundry tells on you by noon. Laundry Sauce not only makes clothes smell incredible, but their ultra-concentrated pods use a powerful bioenzyme blend to break down odor-causing bacteria at the source, even in cold cycles.

Each wash infuses laundry with fine fragrances made by the world’s top perfumers like Himalayan Cashmere, Indonesian Patchouli, and Siberia Pine, for a bold, sophisticated fragrance that lasts until your next laundry day.

Deep clean, finished with a scent worth wearing.
