How should the US approach its economic relationship with China?

Pursue significantly closer ties (19%) – "To ignore China is misguided as well as unwise. Closer economic ties would help both nations economies, provide for greater cooperation on such areas like AI, manufacturing, and international relations. Of course I highly doubt anything "wise" emanating from the current administration..."

Pursue closer ties only in non-sensitive areas (38%) – "MAD seems to have kept the world from nuclear war for several decades. Mutually Assured Economic Destruction might be a way to keep us friendlier and free trade open?"

• "China is not to be trusted and thus we cannot be as open and accepting as we would like. Every transaction needs to be scrutinized as does every import we receive."

Keep the relationship about the same (17%) – "I think things are going pretty well with China in comparison to our relationships with other countries. There’s more reason to focus on those issues."

Reduce ties with China (12%) – "We need to COMPLETELY cut interaction with China for trade and information. The rare earth industry in the US needs to be brought back along with other needed industry and mineral production. We need to cut off the information spigot to China as they use it to undercut us, save on research and out perform us using unsavory/inhuman manufacturing processes and techniques. They are an ideological and despotic enemy of freedom which needs to be cut off from any support from the US, it's people or it's industry until they fundamentally change."

Unsure/other (14%) – "China has many critical minerals that the U.S. needs, and it is important to keep those trade relationships good so that the U.S. economy can keep growing. That said, it feels out of place to be so close to a country that we morally oppose, especially with the current trend of bending our backs to foreign dictators. It's definitely not a position anyone thought we would end up in."
